The team
Klever Klox started as a complaint about how everyone is woken up, and turned into a clock. Three people, no factory, no investors.
Founder · engineer
Joseph designed and built V1 from the ground up, then developed V2 on his own — the embedded firmware, the 3D-printed enclosure, the web interface and the WiFi sync all came from him. He also leads work on this website.
Founder · designer
Josiah is the original creative force behind Klever Klox. As the primary CAD designer on V1 he shaped the physical form of the clock and was the spark that started the project. His day-to-day involvement has wound down, but his design thinking is still underneath everything we make.
Web developer
The newest member of the team, working on the website. Programming since he was thirteen, with a background in backend web development and electronics — Arduino, FPV drones, the usual. When something on this site is misbehaving, there is a good chance he knows why.
How one gets made
Nothing is printed in advance. The order starts with a message and a choice from the twelve filaments we keep.
The case is printed to order on our own machines, then cleaned up by hand where it needs it.
Display, LEDs, speaker, encoder and board are assembled and wired, and the SD card is loaded.
The current firmware goes on, every mode is checked, and an alarm is actually set off before it is boxed.
